By accessing or using the SlideMind website (slidemind.app) or any SlideMind product, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Description of Services

SlideMind offers e-learning tools for instructional designers:

• SlideMind WordPress Plugin — AI Dialogue and Persistent Memory engines for interactive e-learning. Available in Free, Dialogue ($49/yr), Memory ($49/yr), Pro ($89/yr), and Agency ($249/yr) tiers.
• SlideMind Bridge — Free SCORM/xAPI player with LMS auto-bridge. Pro tier available ($39/yr or included with SlideMind Pro).
• SlideMind Cloud — Cloud-hosted version (waitlist only, not yet available).

2. Accounts and Billing

Freemius, Inc. is the Merchant of Record for all SlideMind transactions and handles billing, subscriptions, refunds, and cancellations. Zaprène does not process payments. Freemius's own terms govern billing disputes.

To access your account on slidemind.app, you log in with the email address registered through Freemius when you activated a SlideMind plugin. We use a magic link sent to that email address — there is no password. Each login link is valid for 15 minutes and can only be used once.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any SlideMind software.
• Redistribute, sublicense, or resell SlideMind products without authorization.
• Use the services for any unlawful purpose.

4. Intellectual Property

The SlideMind software is proprietary and protected by copyright. Content generated via the plugin's AI features belongs to the user. Zaprène does not access data hosted on client servers.

5. Limitation of Liability

SlideMind products are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Zaprène makes no guarantees regarding the accuracy or suitability of AI-generated responses. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zaprène's total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

6. Termination

Zaprène reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to its services for violation of these terms. License cancellation and related refunds are managed through Freemius.

7. Modifications

Zaprène may update these Terms of Service. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the website. Continuing to use the services after that constitutes acceptance.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Quebec.

This policy explains how personal information is handled across the SlideMind website and products. It complies with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Loi 25) and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2. Data collected on the website

The public pages of this website do not collect personal data. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which runs without cookies and without collecting personal identifiers. Cloudflare may process IP addresses as part of CDN delivery — see Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The customer portal (/account) is different. When you log in, we collect your email address to send a magic link. Once authenticated, our server retrieves your account information from the Freemius API on your behalf: name, email, license details, subscription status, and payment history. This data transits through our server but is not stored there — it is fetched on each visit and returned directly to your browser.

3. Data collected via products

Freemius (our Merchant of Record) collects your name, email address, and payment information for license management. Freemius holds this data under their own privacy policy. When you use the customer portal on slidemind.app, our server reads your Freemius account data through their API using secure, server-side credentials. We do not copy or store this data outside of the request.

The SlideMind WordPress plugin processes learner interactions entirely on the client's own server — Zaprène does not have access to this data.

4. Data sent to LLM providers

When a learner uses the AI Dialogue features, the plugin sends data to whichever LLM provider the site administrator has configured: the system prompt, conversation messages, resolved profile variables, and memory variables. The site administrator is responsible for informing learners about this processing.

5. Hosting and data transfers

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Because Cloudflare operates a global network, your data may transit through servers outside Canada, including in the United States. When you use the customer portal, our server also communicates with the Freemius API (hosted in the United States) to retrieve your account information. Transactional emails (magic link login) are sent via Mailtrap (Railsware Products, Inc.).

SlideMind Cloud (SaaS) hosting has not been chosen yet and will be documented here when it launches.

6. Data retention

• License data — held by Freemius under their own retention policy.
• Learner memory data — stored in the client's WordPress database, managed by the client.
• Website analytics — held by Cloudflare under their own policy.
• Session data — a signed token stored in your browser cookie for 24 hours. Contains your user ID, email, and first name. Not stored on our server.
• Magic link tokens — held in temporary server-side storage for 15 minutes, then automatically deleted.

7. Your rights

Under Loi 25 and PIPEDA, you have the right to:

• Access your personal information held by Zaprène.
• Request rectification of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Request portability of your data.

Learner data export and erasure are available via WordPress's built-in privacy tools (Tools > Export/Erase Personal Data). For all requests, contact slidemind-privacy@zaprene.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

The public pages of this website do not use cookies. The customer portal sets a single cookie when you log in:

• Name: session
• Purpose: keeps you logged in while you manage your account
• Duration: 24 hours
• Type: functional (HttpOnly, not accessible to JavaScript, not used for tracking)

This cookie is strictly necessary for the customer portal to work. No consent banner is required under Loi 25 or PIPEDA for functional cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, the update will be posted on this page. Continuing to use the website or products after that constitutes acceptance.
