Q&A and Chat widgets
A ready-made interface for Dialogue Engine
Add an AI activity to your course without building the interface. Choose a widget, adjust its look in SlideMind, then paste the generated code into Rise, an HTML page or an authoring tool that supports embeds.
Start with one activity in your own course.
A colleague removes a machine guard to work faster. What do you do?
I ask them to put the guard back.
Good reflex: you step in straight away. What should happen to the machine first?
01 Q&A widget
Three layouts for an open question.
The learner answers in their own words and receives feedback. Add a score and a verdict when the activity calls for them.
A colleague removes a machine guard to work faster. What do you do?
I ask them to put the guard back.
Good reflex: you step in straight away. What should happen to the machine first?
Question header
The question stays at the top, above the answer and the feedback. A good fit for most lessons.
Score as a fraction
A colleague removes a machine guard to work faster. What do you do?
Think about the machine, your colleague and your supervisor.I ask them to put the guard back.
Good reflex: you step in straight away. What should happen to the machine first?
Worksheet
The question and a hint sit beside the answer, like an exercise sheet.
Score as a bar

Answer againFlip card
The question is on the front. The card turns over to reveal the feedback.
Score hidden
- Score shown as a fraction or a bar, or hidden.
- Verdict in three levels: Good answer, Partially correct or Not quite.
- Another attempt with a button you can turn on or off.
02 Chat widget
A conversation, from opening to wrap-up.
The widget opens with your message, keeps the exchange going and ends it the way you choose.
- Opening message
- Sets the scene or gives the character’s first line.
- Number of messages
- Limit how many messages the learner can send, or leave the conversation open.
- After the last message
- The AI wraps up, a fixed message appears, the message box disappears or nothing more happens. With a message limit, an end card closes the activity.
You wanted to see me?
Yes. You’ve arrived late several times over the past two weeks.
I know. I make up the time in the evening, so it’s not a big deal.
I can see you’re making an effort. What has changed recently?
Your course, your look
Match the widget to your course.
You wanted to see me?
Yes, about your schedule.

Yes, about your schedule.
- Theme and colours
- A light or dark theme, a main colour and the colours of the AI’s messages.
- Shape
- Corner radius, card shadow and button alignment.
- Header
- Show or hide the header and choose its title.
- Labels and language
- Default text in English or French, set for your workspace or for one slide. Rewrite any label, from the buttons to the verdicts, in your course’s tone.
Built in
What the widget takes care of.
Learner identification
When your LMS provides it through SCORM, xAPI or cmi5, the widget recognises the learner. Memory Engine can then link their answers from one course to the next. Without an LMS, Q&A and Chat work the same way, without memory.
An AI notice
If you wish, learners see a short notice before their first answer, with a link to your privacy policy.
Unavailable results
If an answer can’t be produced, the learner reads a plain message in their language, never a technical error.
Completion in Rise
A Continue block can wait until the learner sees the Q&A feedback or reaches the end of the conversation.
Setup
From SlideMind to your course in three steps.
- 01
Create the activity.
Write the question or the role and your instructions for the AI, then test them with “Try it”.
- 02
Choose the widget and its look.
Pick Q&A or Chat, a layout and your colours. The preview shows the result as you go.
- 03
Paste the code into your course.
Copy the generated code into a Rise Code block, an HTML page or an authoring tool that supports embeds, then test the published course.
Practical questions
Before you build.
Do learners need a SlideMind account?
No. Learners use the widget inside your course. When your LMS provides it, the widget identifies them automatically.
Can I change the widget’s text?
Yes. Every label can be rewritten: question, answer box, buttons, feedback, score and verdicts. Write them in the language and tone of your course.
Can the widget speak French?
Yes. Every text the learner reads, error messages included, appears in English or French, set for your workspace or for one slide. The AI answers in the language of your instructions.
Is the score sent to my learning management system (LMS)?
No. The score and verdict appear in the widget, and in Rise SlideMind passes only the completion of the activity. In Storyline, the widget in a Web Object writes the verdict and your fields to variables your course can use.
Where can I use the widgets?
In a Rise Code block, an HTML page or an authoring tool that supports embeds. In Storyline, insert the Q&A or Chat widget as a Web Object.
Do I need an LMS?
Not for AI feedback and conversations: the widgets also work in a Web export or on any HTML page. Learner memory does need to know who the learner is. The LMS usually supplies that identity; the integration also accepts an identifier you provide.
Keep the idea going.
Add your first widget.
Create an activity, choose its layout and paste it into your course.
